This week was pretty great! We have really gotten to know the members and they are always waiting for us to come. We served Lasagna and bread with drinks. We had a silk pie and ice cream for dessert! It was all gone in no time. I'm super glad that they enjoyed it. We ended up visiting with the members and Lisa from Drury University came to talk to the members of Eden Village about there goals going forward. Short term and long term. I have really enjoyed my time volunteering for this nonprofit community and I'm sad that this journey is coming to an end for our project.
Grocery shopping and getting supplies for Eden Village event on Thursday. We got stuff for pasta dinner with drinks and bread. Super excited for Lisa to come and talk to the members this week!!
Triple Play baseball Tournament to raise money for St.Jude.
On Monday we served the residents a Taco bar! This was a huge success. We just visited and talked about our days and plans for the week. At this point in the semester, we have really gotten to know the residents on a deeper level and have started to gain there trust. It's always very rewarding when they ask if we are coming the next week. Our activities have changed a lot as we have gotten to know them, and I'm excited for this upcoming week to help them plan their goals for the future as many of them are going to school and getting jobs! I'm sad that this journey is coming to an end, but I have learned so much and have a deeper respect for life in general.
Today we decided to do pizza for dinner with the members of Eden Village. There was more of a time limit today with the members so we decided to just get to know them more and it was exciting to see new faces. I am excited to come back next week to be able to help with the members build there resumes at our workshop and eat some yummy food!!
Today was the first time that we got to meet the members of Eden's Village. We played games and cooked dinner. We had chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes and cookies. My favorite part of the event was getting to meet everyone. It was an amazing experience and a good feeling when they asked us to come back next Thursday.
