I had the opportunity to run with a Champion Athlete during the Bass Pro Fitness Series Springfield News-Leader 5K. I enjoyed getting to talk with my partner and encourage her to push herself to reach her best time. I enjoyed getting to visit with other pairs of runners from this organization throughout the race and loved the interactions everyone had to encourage and cheer everyone on, no matter if the individuals were part of Champion Athletes or not.
Champion Athletes held their annual Monster Bowling for Champions fundraiser at Enterprise Park Lanes. I was able to help set up and decorate raffle tables, take team pictures for each lane, and clean up after the event. The teams were all enthusiastic and happy to be at the bowling tournament; this energy transferred to everyone helping behind the scenes. I was able to see part of the organization that helps keep programs running and understand the impact this organization has on businesses and families in the community.
Tuesday mornings, Champion Athletes of the Ozarks has a Water Aerobics class in Monett, Missouri. I had the opportunity to travel to the YMCA in Monett and participate in the class. Not only did I enjoy engaging in the class and helping the athletes when appropriate, but the exercises and structure of the activities were presented in a way that makes exercising fun and inclusive which directly aligns with my philosophy of physical activity.
I attended the Champion Athletes Spring Dance last Saturday night and spent the evening chatting with all the awesome people, eating snacks, and dancing to music!
Champion Athlete's spring dance
My summit group and I spent 10+ hours planning, buying, crafting, setting up, and enjoying our dance! It was so fun because it was under the sea themed. My favorite parts were creating all the decorations and enjoying the dance. It was a great experience overall.
People were very nice. I had a great time there.
My summit group put on this spring dance for the champion athletes. We had a lot of fun shopping for the decorations and having a craft night putting them together. It was rewarding to see it all come together on Saturday after spending a long time one it!
The hours were acquired throughout the semester for Summit Park Leadership Community.
Various Sundays of playing soccer with the Athletes
GNO with Tri Delta! Making friendship bracelets and making sure that we know the characteristics of what makes a good friend!
Reading class with the champion athletes
GNO with the Champion Athletes!!
Volunteered time at two GNO's with our Champion Athletes, where we talked to them about healthy friendships.
I especially enjoyed my time volunteering with Champion Athletes at their soccer practices. It was fun because I play soccer for Drury and they were all so excited to have real soccer players there!
